Application window opening soon - CPUC’s Clean Energy Access Program

CPUC will accept applications for Cycle 1 of their Clean Energy Access program from March 1-April 30 , 2024 via their application portal.

This initiative was initially established through California Budget act of 2022 or AB 179 (see section 196) which included the goal to facilitate access for tribes and other underserved communities and implementation of clean energy incentive programs.

The CPUC Clean Energy Access program funds preparatory project activities in a tribal and other underserved community aimed at increasing participation and success for the community in accessing clean energy programs and energy rebates available through the Microgrid Incentive Program (MIP), Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP), and Technology and Equipment for Clean Heating Initiative (TECH) programs. Specifically, project activities can include Capacity Building and Workforce Training, Community Engagement, Coordination with Existing Program Administrators, Marketing Outreach and Enrollment Support, Resource Mapping and Needs Assessment, and Project Design and Development associated with one of the MIP, SGIP, or TECH programs. Project activities can not include any construction related activities, or activities funded through the MIP, SGIP or TECH programs. See grant guidelines available at https://www.cpuc.ca.gov/capacitygrants for more, including the recording of today’s webinar, presentation slides, and an updated FAQ.
