Washington’s Community Decarbonization Grants

The Washington State Department of Commerce is now accepting applications to support the planning, design, and construction of clean energy projects that will improve health, resiliency, and economic outcomes for communities that face inequitable risk from energy burden, pollution, and other environmental factors.

Maximum award amount of $2.75M for planning or construction of a project in following category:

  • Solar Paired with Battery Storage

  • Low-income Community Solar

  • Large Scale Solar Innovation

  • Dual Use Solar

  • Hard to Decarbonize

  • Solar Installations on Existing Public Buildings

  • Clean Energy Siting and Permitting

  • Grid Integration and Innovation

  • Federal Match Fund

Eligible applicants vary by project category, but a broad range of entity types (non-profit, for profit, educational/research institutions, federally recognized tribes, governments) are eligible for most categories.

Hurry, the application period for this funding round exclusively for projects benefitting overburdened communities and vulnerable populations closes 12pm PDT, April 8th. If you miss this round, there is one more round launching in late spring 2024.
